AboutPaul Rabe Expertise I have seen ALMOST every film with an appearance by The Duke, made since 1940, and a couple dozen of those before then. If it's a film with him, I've most likely seen it, have an opinion on it, and can try to answer questions about it.
Experience I saw my first film where Wayne makes an appearance almost fifty years ago. Since then, I have seen 102 films where he makes an appearance.

Question in which films did jonh wayne actually die
Answer The answer depends on your definition of "actually" dies.
For instance, _The Man Who Shot Liberty Valance_ begins with the funeral of the John Wayne character, after which the Jimmy Stewart character tells, through flashback, of their friendship. His flashbacks ends before the JW character dies. So, TECHNICALLY, at no point in the story-telling does the JW character ever die, even though the story is framed by his funeral. Some people count this as a JW death, others don't.
Two good lists on this subject can be found at the following:
DISCLAIMER and WARNING!!
Some of these deaths occur near the end of the film, and seeing a character played by The Duke adds quite intensely to the drama of the film. Do *NOT* read this list unless you are willing to have the ending of some films spoiled by knowing his character dies at the end.

As an interesting note, Bruce Dern likes to brag that he is only actor who played a named character that killed a John Wayne character. All other persons who "killed" Wayne were not listed in the credits.
