About Paul Rabe
Expertise
I have seen ALMOST every film with an appearance by The Duke, made since 1940, and a couple dozen of those before then. If it's a film with him, I've most likely seen it, have an opinion on it, and can try to answer questions about it.

Experience
I saw my first film where Wayne makes an appearance almost fifty years ago. Since then, I have seen 102 films where he makes an appearance.

Education/Credentials
Master of Arts, University of Texas

Wayne, John - Films where a Wayne character is killed

Expert: Paul Rabe - 1/1/2009

Question
how many films did john wayne get killed in

Answer
There is some controversy about this. For instance, the plot in _The Man Who Shot Liberty Valance_ is framed by the funeral of the Wayne character, but his death does not occur during either the framing or the flashback. Did he "die" in this film or not? Also, his death was peaceful, so does this count as him being "killed?"

The best source for cinematic deaths is the site I link to below, which is the URL for John Wayne "deaths." It includes all films where someone thinks an actor "dies" in a film, and includes any controversy on the matter.

EXTREME DISCLAIMER
The site makes no attempt to avoid spoiling the cinematic effect of an unexpected or sudden death in a film. My own experience is that the dramatic power of at least death of a John Wayne character was due to its sudden occurence at the end of a film. Do NOT read this URL unless you're willing to have this effect lessened if and when you see the film.
