Subject: John Wayne films in Monument Valley

Question
How many films did John wayne make in Monument Valley- I know it was his favorite location, just looking for the total-

Answer
Hello Karen,

Possibly not as many as you might think. Monument Valley was the great love of director John Ford who made many westerns there, but not all with John Wayne.

Wayne made more films around Tucson, Arizona and Durango, Mexico than he did in Monument Valley.

Films that Wayne appeared in that were shot or partly shot in Monument Valley were:

Stagecoach (1939)
Fort Apache (1948)
She Wore A Yellow Ribbon (1949)
Rio Grande (1950)
The Searchers (1956)

Glad to be of help. Cheers.........Mel.
