Question
Hi Mel.
I was reading some of the questions and answers,,and one in particular, has got my brain in a turmoil,,re the horse race in the quiet man ,,John Wayne had a very distinct way of riding,,I always thought it was him who rode in that race,,and he actually did the sceen in true grit,
thanks again ,,

Answer
Hello again Maryann,

Yes, he did do a lot of his own riding, but some was also performed by his stuntman. I believe that a lot of the race in "The Quiet Man" was performed by his stunt man. It's not talked about a lot, but Wayne was not overly fond of horses, and only rode them when the scene called for it.

Glad to be of help. Cheers.......Mel.
