I see many websites that have instead of one big picture they puzzle together smaller pictures to form the big one. I would like to know why they do it that way, and how I can do it.

we normally do this when we work on specicifc cutting edge design means a banner with lot of curves. Normally when we divide big picture so we use that picture as background so we can write over it.
when u use table on ur html table so it will become more easier to manage puzzle pictures on web.
