QUESTION: Hello Kiven,

I have a website http://www.realpracticesolutions.com and I created several blogs on Blogger http://realpracticesolutions.blogspot.com
My question: how do I get my website and blog be able to be seen by search engines.
I tried to claim my blog on Technorati, but their system is down for months now.
The blog is not coming out on searches at all.
I submitted the website to several directories and did try to set up some backlinks.
What should I do?

ANSWER: Hi,

the short answer is that wordpress has settings that allow your blog to be indexed by google. you can also use sitemap plugins for google and yahoo.

the best way to be indexed is to be linked from a high trafficked site and seo. using google's webmaster apps will also show you if your site is indexed. please take note that while your site may be indexed, im not so sure what page it will appear depending on which keywords.

- if you wanna use wordpress, you need to migrate your blog. instructions are at wordpress.org for installing wordpress on your own server.

- double check with blogger if they allow thirdparty tags

- if you do it via google webmasters tools, it will log your request and queue it for the index bots

btw blogger is google's right? so it gets indexed every time automatically. still, making you presence go up in the serps needs a rather indepth knowledge of seo.
