Question I have a question regarding placing actually video footage on a web page. I am interested in placing video clips on my fire departments web page. I have one set up right now at http://www.grovevillefire.com/video_yard_allen1.html When I click on the video (Using AOL) the video opens in a seperate box (Real Player) to play. When I used Just INternet Explorer it actually opened up a new browser window with a white background. My questions are:
Do you know how I might be able to have the video play on a designated page that I create (Sort of embedded I guess)? I want my own background and controls and links ont he page the person is viewing the movie from.
Also, I want to make the movies larger in their size but not necessarily too large in their file size. Is there any sort of compression I can do for the video? And FInally, what is the best format to have the video in. I was able to save form our camera in AVI format but I noticed that AOL would not play an AVI formatted movie via Real PLayer (At least on my PC) So I found a program to convert them to MPG but I am not surte which exact format is the best to use.
Any help would greatly be appreciated.
Answer Hello Ron,
The compression standard you might use for AVI files is DivX, which is the best for AVI and WMV files.
The compressors are easy to find at http://www.tucows.com.
Regarding the video embedding, rather than my explanations I suggest you to use the following link: http://www.fluffbucket.com/nsc/videoadd.htm.
In this page you'll find lots of very useful information about what you need.
Good luck and if you encounter any issue, drop me a line.
