Question Hi, not sure if this is your area of expertise, but i though i would ask just in case. I want to secure a domain name before anyone gets it, but i dont actually want to create a website for the next year. Is it possible for me to go to a company and pay for a domain name without having to put that domain name with a web hosting company. Also what sort of prices should i be looking at for the domain name and for the web hosting.

Yes you can secure a domain without putting up a website. You can either choose to park it for free meaning only ads will be placed on the site automatically so you can generate some revenue or have a standard page that tells people website under construction. Prices usually range from $8 - $10 per year with a good domain company. Recommended places to buy your domain would be godaddy. You don't need to host the site until your good and ready. I personally have 24 domains registered with 2 of those being hosted. I hope this helped you. If you have any problems let me know.
