Web Hosting Advice - search engine inclusion

Expert: Michael Bali - 9/5/2008

Question
Michael,

When I go to say MSN or some other search engine,

and I search for say, your name, I may get several

sites where your name appears, like a university site, or

some expert site.

On those sites that your name appears, do those site have

web hosting accounts with the engine I am searching in,

and how do they submit the information including your name,

does the publisher submit to all of the search engine.

Example: Entering your name in Yahoo search, there is about

20 to 25 various publishers.

Do they all submit to Yahoo, in MSN, there was one.

What do you think?

Answer
Hi Ron,

Search Engines usually crawl for pages and sites such as allexperts, linkedin and other sites that are SEO friendly meaning those sites have successfully submitted their web sites to these search engines. It also depends on how frequently the site is updated. As you know I answer many questions and volunteer my time on allexperts therefore the site gets updated with my responses frequently. I am an expert in powerpoint and other various categories so the search engines finds me by looking at the updates and the frequenc as well as the keywords.

The sites don't necessarily have web hosting accounts with the search engine. The site uses keywords embedded into the website that pulls out specific information so that search engine can find that word. You can host a site anywhere and still beable to have your site on a search engine as long as it is coded properly.

If you have any other questions regarding SEO and Web Hosting let me know so I can further assist you.

Thanks,

Sincerely,

Michael Bali
