I want to know what exactly is "niche directory"? Is it some kind of advertising media? Do I need to pay to use the service?
I would also need an example of the website referred as niche directory (if possible).

A niche directory is a site that focuses on only one topic- like a specific industry, region, or subject.  The site does not ever include material not related to that specific topic, including unrelated links.  

i.e. http://www.kbb.com only deals with vehicles and things that directly relate to vehicles.
