Answer Here is a website you can visit that will give you a list of available web hosts who provide free web hosting: http://www.free-webhosts.com/
One of the major draw backs of free web hosting, and often why most people just opt to pay for web hosting, is they have very limited technical support so a lot of times it is up to you to figure out how to get your site to work on your own. They also have a set amount of file space your site can be and bandwidth you can use per month - and a lot of free hosting companies host your site for free because they are placing ads within your website to produce revenue for themselves (fair enough since you are also getting hosting for free.)
Each company has a different way for you to upload your files to their server. Some might even be through a 3rd party FTP application. If so, a free one you can try that is free and easy to use is Coffee Cup FTP (google it).
A word of warning: Just because your website functions properly on your own computer does not necessarily mean that it will function properly on the web. You must make sure the links of all the pages are linked to each other properly in the file directory as it would be on the server and not on your computer. For instance, if you look at the image link and it says something like C:// you know the images or the pages are not properly linked. Instead they are linked to your hard drive and since the site is no longer on your hard drive that would be why you can not view the site properly. If this is the case - google "basic HTML tips."
