About K. Lawrence
Expertise
I have expertise in making webtv email signatures as well as website design. I am patient and specific with "newbies" to the webber experience! I am on a Sony Plus and am able to answer questions regarding the video capture and audio capture features of the plus.

Experience
I have three websites. One is a very large collection of camel clipart and the other two are just fun sites where I have used some creativity to have a good time. I have gotten very good with html and table commands.

WebTV Problems - Login to Stormpay

Expert: K. Lawrence - 6/4/2005

Question
I have a stormpay account and when I go to login and click on it a message pops up and says ("my receiver could not establish encrypted communications with the requested web site".)

One person says I have to have my browser upgraded or something like that, but I don't know where to begin to correct this problem so I can get to my online Stormpay account. It now does not get by the login stage.

Answer
Hi, I have recieved a number of questions similar to yours. The short of it is, the one that told you that you needed a browser upgrade was partially correct.

Unfortunately, the webtv browser is only capeable of being upgraded by MSNTV when they decide to roll out an upgrade. You can't do it yourself and have no control over if or when MSNTV will do it.

I have moved on to computer to handle any of my online accounts as webtv's browser is not upgraded enough to handle the new secure sites.

As an example, my browser version on my computer is 9.0. The webtv browser is back around 5.5 or so.

I now have to do all my banking, ebay and bill paying on my computer.

I wish I had a better reply for you but webtv is stuck in the stone age and I doubt it will come to current level any time soon. The fact of it is, a basic computer system is about five hundred dollars now and there is less and less demand for the MSNTV. There is no incentive for MSN to upgrade.

There is a new version of MSNTV in whats called Beta testing, but I dont know if it will do the online secure stuff or not.

Again, I wish I had something better to tell you but there is no way for you to upgrade your browser.

Good luck and best regards
