Question
I have been given a supposedly working Magnavox MAT972A101 Web TV receiver. I would like to know if it is compatible with the current technology being used by MSN-TV customers. How do I test it? Do I have to sign up to the service to test it?  

Answer
As the webtv service is only a set top box and relies on an internet connection the only way to know if the box works is to sign up for the service.

There might be a way for MSNTV to ping the box but you would have to contact them to see.

If it is a working box it is compatable with the MSNTV service. I have an old Sony Plus that I use and I know people that have ten year old classics they still use.
