Question
I have an etiquette question that I can't find the answer for anywhere on the internet. I want to know the proper way
to address an envelope for a couple when the wife has a hypenated name. Ex. Donald Smith & Carol Smith-Jones.

Answer
Elena:

This is a new one and not all the books are updated. It would read as follows:

Outside envelope
Mrs. Carol Smith-Jones
and Mr. Donald Smith

Inside envelope
Donald and Carol (informal)
Mrs. Smith-Jones and Mr. Jones (formal)

Hope this helps!
~Shannon
