Hello,
i am looking to have a small informal ceremony on the beach with about 50 people.  we then either want to have a party in a house that we rent on the beach or have a sit down dinner.  we are trying to cut down on people and save money.  we want to do this in Connecticut.  Do you have any ideas at all for places to have the wedding or some sites to look on to find venues.? Basically i'm pretty clueless so ANY help you can offer would be great.  Thanks so much and let me know if you need more info- i just didn't want to write a book.  :)

From research online Conneticut has some great venues by the shore; there are several charming bed-and-breakfasts and inns in these areas that cater to intimate weddings: The Saybrook Point Inn & Spa, (800) 243-0212, in Old Saybrook offers magnificent views of the Long Island Sound; the Mediterranean-style Lighthouse Inn, (860) 443-8411, in New London has its own private beach; and the Inn at Mystic, (860) 536-9604, a Colonial Revival mansion, overlooks Mystic Harbor and the Long Island Sound.

Personally I love the idea of you getting married on the beach and then all walking to your house for your wedding party. You could have an informal barbeque or summer picnic on the beach.
