Weddings - Picking a Wedding Day

Question
My Husband and I were married 9 years ago on August 7th. His sister has announced today that she will be getting married this August...on the 8th; the day after we were married. I wanted to know if this would be considered rude? I feel like this is completely rude, considering this day means absolutely nothing to her. She picked it so her anniversary would be 8-8-08. She and her finance have been together for 9 years too and have celebrated a day in June as their anniversary each year since. I know that no one can tell them what day to pick to get married, but I would never have chose a day right after one of my siblings even if it was years apart. Am I just overreacting or is this impolite?

Answer
Hi Sarah,

I doubt that she's doing this to be rude.  There are many, many couples getting married this year on 8-8-08 as it's supposed to be good luck and will not happen again until the next century.

In this case I think it probably just struck you funny, but let it go and go enjoy the wedding and wish them well.
