Weddings - Place card wording

Expert: Helen Joan Casper - 2/9/2008

Question
How do you word the placecards when children will be seated at the same table as their parents?  Mr & Mrs...& family ?  Or The...Family? Or what?

Answer
Generally, one would put:

Mr. and Mrs. Joe McCarthy
Patrick, Sally, and Elise

The children's names would go in a line underneath the parents' names with no title or last name. You may also put Mr. Joe and Mrs. Jane McCarthy if you wish for the first line.

If it's a more casual affair and they're the only family with that last name, you could also simply put "The McCarthy Family".

Please let me know if I can help you further or with anything else.

Best wishes,
Helen =)
