Question Our daughter has sent out her save the dates for July 2008. After much consternation regarding the size of the wedding they have decided to have only 60 people instead of 130. How do we graciously un-invite these guests? Thanks for your help! Mom
Answer Jane:
Uninviting guests to a wedding is a huge no-no. By sending the save the dates, you have already invited them to the event. Some may have even already made arrangements to be available for the wedding.
If budget is the concern then look for other ways to save money. You can speak to the catering manager about ways to save on the meal, don't hire a limo, or postpone the honeymoon.
I know this is not the answer that you were hoping for but it is against all etiquette to uninvite these guests.
