Question I just got my dress altered and she added a bustle and I'm not sure if it is correct. My dress is heavy and has a train and she put three penny size clear buttons on the back of my dress ( so visible) and when I bustle it you can still see the buttons. Is this correct or just cheap?
Answer Hi Brooke:
Every Bridal Salon seamstress has their own way of making a bustle. While I hate to say that this is not correct, it is not the way I would like to see a bustle done. If your train is long and heavy, she should have used more fasteners. Preferably ones that are not so large and visible.
Did you explain to them that you are not happy with the job they did? If not, I would go back to the salon and tell them that while you appreciate the hard work that went into the alterations and bustle, you are less than satisfied with how the bustle turned out. Let them know that you would like something more secure and less visible. If they want to keep a good reputation, they should try and please you by correcting the situation.
I hope this helps. Should you have any further questions, please feel free to contact me again.
