Question HI ....we're both 57, both been married before and I'm looking for a unique and special way to ask my bride to be to marry me. We are both free spirits and will have a non traditional wedding when it happens, which will be in the next few months. My best friend recently took his bride to be up in a hot air balloon and asked her to marry her at it's pinnacle of elevation above the ground, which I thought was clever.......any ideas from you would be appreciated....thanks in advance, Jim
Answer Dear Jim,
I'd love to assist. I do Silver Rose Proposals so I assist in this sort of thing.
Can you give me an idea of where you live, what you'd like to spend and what sort of things you enjoy doing together? This will help me come up with some ideas.
Hi Jim,
Do you have a favorite spot you like to go, such as a beach or park or mountain area? You could arrange for a caterer to set up a nice table and dinner with candle light and propose to her at this spot. To get there, you could rent a limo and just tell her how to dress up. Another way to accomplish this is to set up a scavenger hunt. Get different people or businesses to work with you.
I did this recently where the limo picked up the lady and took her for a massage and facial. Her best friend was picked up, as a surprise to the lady and they went to lunch. Then we arranged for a personal shopper to take her shopping and buy a couple of outfits, one of which was to be worn that evening. The next stop was to have her hair done and finally the limo brought her to the hotel, where the dinner was arranged. (We had little gifts for her at each stop, leading up to the final event where my client proposed.)
Something along this line could easily be done, having her make specific stops and collecting roses so when she arrives at the destination, she has a beautiful bouquet.
Do you take trips together? Consider returning to where you had your first date or first trip and propose there.
If you like sports, many of the major leagues will put it on the marquee, during half time. Just need to make sure she's in her seat and you are ready with the ring.
Depending on your budget, you could rent a theater and have a private showing of her favorite movie, or one of the romantic classics like Casablanca, Breakfast at Tiffany's, etc. Complete with champagne, popcorn, and the ring!
Hope this helps. Another idea is to have a videographer/photographer in on the surprise to take pictures and capture the moment. They can then tie this in with your wedding pictures.
