Weddings/Error on wedding invitation

Question
Help!  My wedding invitation has an error in the address for the reception banquet hall.  One number is wrong - it says 2551 instead of 2251.  What is the best/proper way to fix this?

Answer
Marilyn,

Sorry to hear about your plight, but unless the event is this weekend, the problem IS fixable and shouldn't take up too much time or resources...

However, you do need to inform each person that an invitation was mailed to that the address is incorrect - being off by 3 blocks distance is bad, but it could have been worse if it were 5251 instead of 2251, then it would be off by 30 blocks instead of 3...

My recommendation is to e-mail and/or call each person and ask them to look at their invitation because some of the addresses shown for the reception are incorrect and to "Please change the address on the invitation from 2551 to 2251."  If you are E-MAILING this out to folks, ask them to please e-mail you back so you know they received the change - this way you can cross them off the list...

Same goes for a phone call... You might tell them that "Some of the invitations have the wrong address on them, could you please look and tell me what yours says?"  That way, they have to actually find the invitation and when they do, you can have them change it right then and there!

One other option of course would be to send out a 'directions' card (something with small map and the CORRECT address) to each person explaining that the address on some of the invitations is incorrect.  If you do it as a post card size, you can mail them cheaper than regular mail too.

I hope this helps and I hope you are able to reach everyone in plenty of time!

Have a great wedding and remember, something almost always goes wrong with a wedding, so just count this as the thing that did and you won't have to worry about anything else!  :)
