Weddings - return of shower & wedding gifts in death of groom-to-be

Expert: Weddings Etc LLC - 10/11/2009

Question
When the groom-to-be dies less than 2 weeks prior to the wedding, is it still required that the bereaved bride-to-be must return wedding and shower gifts that she has already received?

Answer
Hi Sharlene,

According to my resources, the gifts should be returned if they haven't been used.  This is something that a close friend or family member might offer to assist with to save the bride more heart-ache.

This is a difficult time for everyone involved.

Hopefully this helps.
