Question
QUESTION: I want to have a small open house for my in-law's 65th anniversary.  What colors do I use?

ANSWER: Hi Jan,

WOW! You don't hear of these often enough!  The gifts are "star sapphire and gray" so I'd use sapphire blue and perhaps silver in place of gray, unless you could find a pretty gray.

Hope this helps.  Please let me know if I can be of any further assistance.

QUESTION: You've been extremely helpful; Could you also tell me if particular flowers are associated with the  65th?  Thanks again.q

Answer
As far as I can tell, there aren't any specific flowers.  You won't go wrong with roses or calla lilies, which come in a lot of colors.  There's only a couple of flowers that are truly blue - delphinium is one.  Another option is to use carnations, which are making a big comeback and are really beautiful in arrangements with other flowers.  Then use silver ribbon or objects in the corsages, boutineers or arrangements as an accent.  You can also have the flowers dipped and silver glitter added for the sparkle.

Talk with your florist and tell them what colors you are wanting to use and let them make recommendations as well.  It's always best if the flowers are in season as they'll be less costly.
