Weddings - Wedding attire for a late afternoon wedding and evening country club dinner
Expert: Weddings Etc LLC - 11/7/2009
Question I'll be attending a cold, mid November, 4:30 P.M. church wedding with a 6 P.M. indoors, country club reception dinner. There are no instructions on the wedding invitation, on how to dress. The invitation is cream color with some fancy black writing. I'm on a very limited budget and can't afford to buy a new outfit.
I was thinking of wearing a long, sleeveless dress, with a new fancy black, long sleeve sweater, to stay warm. This long polyester dress goes down to my ankles, has a dark flowery mixture of purples, greens and navy blue, with a small amount of black background.
Can I wear this dress to the wedding?
Answer Hi Cris,
Since the reception is after 5 PM, it's considered semi-formal. Therefore, your dress should be fine. Besides, if you get to dancing, you're going to want to take off the sweater. It sounds fine. If you have a shorter, black dress, that would also be appropriate. You can also dress up the dress by adding jewelry.
Have fun! Please let me know if I can be of any further assistance.
