Weddings - How many glasses should I rent for my wedding reception?
Expert: Wendy Wuitschick - 7/6/2009
Question Dear Wendy,
My fiance and I are having an outdoor ceremony and wedding reception in August and will be hosting 165-180 people (RSVPs still coming in). We are serving wine, beer, water and soda. How many of each type of glass (wine, beer, and water/soft drink) would you recommend renting for a 5.5 hour reception and dinner?
Thanks!
Kate
Answer Hi Kate:
You should figure that each guest will drink 2 drinks the first hour and 1 per hour after that.
As for the type of glass, it really will depend on what you think the people will drink the most of. Many beer drinkers prefer bottles to glasses so unless you are serving beer from a keg, there is no need for beer glasses.
Typically the ratio's go like this:
50% Beer
25-30% Wine
20-25% Mixed drinks
Since you are not serving mixed drinks then I would say 60% beer, 30% wine and the rest water/soda.
I hope this helps. Should you have any further questions, please feel free to contact me again.
