Weddings/Need help with an "in memory" song

Question
My brother has recently gotten engaged and his fiancée have asked me to help select a song that could be played during or after the ceremony in honor of mine and his mom who passed away from cancer 3 years ago.  I have thought about Angel by Sarah McLachlan, but I don't if it is appropriate.  If you could help me out with this it would be greatly appreciated.  Thank you so much for your time.

Answer
Dear Brooke,

I think "Angel" would be a GREAT choice!

Something else you might think about is, did your mother have a favorite song?  We recently did one where they chose "Little Green Apples" because it was the grooms' mother's favorite song.  It worked very well and actually brought tears to many in the audience.  Not sure if that's a good thing or not for a wedding ceremony, but it seemed to have pleased the Groom and his Father very much.

The important thing to keep in mind is that this is something in rememberance of a special person in you and your brother's life!

Try to choose a song that will reflect that and that isn't too long (3-4 minutes at most OR think about just playing a portion of a song also) as you don't want this event to overshadow the entire ceremony.

But ANY song can be appropriate - it can be soft and classy or loud and uplifting!  The point is, you want it to reflect who your mother was... If you don't know her favorite song, try to find out which artist(s) she liked best and choose something from them...

Hope this helps!
