Question Okay so I am having a short notice and a small budget Christmas wedding and I am at a loss what kind of arrangements should I do for bouquets. My colors are red and silver. If you could help me figure out what are some beautiful floral arrangements I can do for a inexpensive price. I am wanting it to flow perfectly in the Christmas theme but elegant to say it's a wedding not a Christmas get together. Any tips you could give I would greatly appreciate! Thanks.
Answer Hi Amanda,
You have picked a lovely time to have your wedding. Because most places are decorated, you'll be saving a lot on decor.
As for your bouquets there's several ways to go. You could do red and white roses and carnations. (Don't rule out carnations. They are very showy, last a long time, inexpensive and making a big comeback. You could do three large calla lilies; a nosegay of red or white roses and then have silver balls, bells or crystals inserted into your bouquets. This would also be a nice place to place any special pieces of jewelry that you might have from a grandmother or mother.
The bridesmaids could do something different, if you'd like, and carry a small wreath, a kissing ball, or even a wrist corsage. They could even carry a muff instead of flowers and may have a flower on the side.
Take a picture of your dress to your florist and let her make some recommendations as well. A lot of what your bouquet looks like depends on your dress. For example, if you wear a more simple dress you probably don't want to carry a cascade type bouquet. If your dress is more contemporary then something like calla lilies work great.
You can incorporate the silver in ribbon or Christmas balls incorporated into the bouquets.
As for floral arrangements, consider floating one red rose with floating candles. Put candles around the centerpiece and if you can use mirrors, that really adds a lot. You can also do candles #which will probably need to be enclosed in a hurricane cover as most places don't allow an open flame)with greenery and sprinkle rose petals around the centerpiece.
You could even put a small poinsettia on each table and then give them as gifts to special people you'd like to have them.
When you visit with your florist, give her a dollar figure you want to spend. She will then be able to tell you what flowers are available and what they can do for you.
Hope this helps. Please let me know if I can be of any further assistance.
