Question
I will be the matron of honor for a middle-aged woman for her second marriage.  She is raising a 12 year-old-granddaughter.  She is my supervisor.  What is an appropriate gift from me, her matron of honor to her and/or the bridegroom.  Very private, small wedding.
Thank you... mary

Answer
Dear Mary,

I am not quite sure what to tell you.  You know your friend/supervisor much better that I do.  The first thing I would find out is if she/they are registered at any stores and if so, you could pick something from their listing(s).

Even if they are not registered anywhere, often times just asking that question will lead to a discussion of what they want or don't want from their guests.

It can be hard picking out a gift for a second marriage, especially if the couple already has most of the household type items from past weddings and/or just buying things for their home(s) over the years.

So, play it by ear, talk to them and keep in mind that the gift should be for BOTH of them, not just the bride.

Good luck and have a great day of celebration with them!
