Experience I''ve been a wedding coordinator for 16 years. I authored a WEDDING PLANNING GUIDE, a Bride''s Workbook, that is available in local bridal shops. Tattered Cover Bookstores in Denver, CO as well as local Borders Books and through my website. I''ve worked with weddings from just 2 people to 350 guests and all budget ranges. I've also written and teach The Art of Wedding Coordination to those who want to become wedding coordinators.
Question My Fiance and I are getting married in a private ceremony in Jamaica, the two of us are the only people going.. We are having a reception @ home a couple of weeks after. I need a way of stating this in our save the dates for our reception. Any suggestions?
Answer Hi Leanne,
I'd say something like:
Save the Date!
October 15, 2009
for a dinner reception
in honor of
Leanne and Roy
Formal invitation to follow
This tells your guests what it is and the date. Since the reception is not immediately after the ceremony, it's not considered a "wedding reception". If anyone asks just tell them that you decided on a quiet ceremony with just the two of you and this is to share your happiness with your friends.
Also, depending on the size and formality, you may want to consider hiring a wedding coordinator to help with the details so you can enjoy the reception!
Hope this helps. Please let me know if I can be of any further assistance.
