Question Hi Wendy, I am very confused! :( I am wondering what has to match the wedding colors in the wedding. So far, I have: guest book, bridesmaid's dresses, favors, invitations, & place cards. I'm sure there is more than that, but I can't think of anything! Also, I know all the flowers/floral arrangements should match each other, but do the 'wedding colors' have to contain colors from the flowers?? For instance, if my bridesmaid's dresses were blue, & their flowers (& the rest of the wedding flowers) were white and pink, can the invitations, guest book, etc be blue (matching the dresses) & yellow? (This is just an example)
I'm sure I have confused you just as much as me! ;) Let me know if you don't understand! Thanks!
Answer Oh Melissa, Melissa! LOL
You are over thinking this way to much my dear. Whatever color your bridesmaids dresses are should be your accent color. Don't worry about what color the flowers are. Nothing has to match those unless you want it to, but then you are just causing yourself more headache and I don't want that!
Let me give you an example. I did a wedding at a winery a few years ago where the bride's dress had dark silver thread running through the bodice. Her bridesmaids wore dresses that were dark, and light silver. All the flowers were varying degrees of dark red roses. There was no other red anywhere. All the favors, invitations, escort cards, etc were silver and white. It was gorgeous because all those red flowers popped as they weren't competing with a bunch of other colors.
As for your guest book, may I make a suggestion. If you are still planning on covering it in fabric and using ribbon for your pen, cover the book in a blue raw silk or taffeta fabric and then use white ribbon to attach the pen with. Don't bring in any more colors than are necessary.
