Question I am looking to print my own invitations and need to figure out something humorous to say on them. My fiance and I have been together for 5 years and its about time we got hitched.
Answer Heidi,
I was really excited to get your question. Most of the wording questions we get center around following proper tradition, etiquette and formality. But you don't have to trap yourself in tradition or follow a unbreakable set of rules. Your wedding is just that - YOUR wedding. And the most important thing is that it reflect your style, personality and individuality. If you and your fiance have a great sense of humor and want to have a little fun with your invitations, I think that's fantastic!
I've seen some really unique, far out, fabulous invitations from couples who didn't take themselves too seriously. Here are some of my favorites:
Susan "Wedding Schmedding" Smith
and
David "They'll Never Take Me Alive" Jones
gleefully invite you to witness
the eating of their words!

These invitations were postcards (which I think is a great idea for a really fun, nontraditional invitation) with a funny cartoon of the couple printed on the front and the wording on the back.
If you like the postcard route, here are some of my favorite "off-the-shelf" funny wedding postcards:
I've also seen an invitation with the faces of the bride and groom superimposed over an old image like the American gothic painting. Guests had to rsvp to the e-mail address goodbyehappiness@yahoo.com. Too funny!
I think you should definitely have fun with this. And please let me know what you end up with or if I can be of additional assistance. Good luck and congratulations!
