AboutGary & Teri Expertise My main specialties are invitations, catering, and banquet locations or in general, wedding receptions. Started as a family business over 75 years ago I now own and operate a catering & banquet facility for over 30 years and have catered small cookout events to large formal ones with everything in between. I even had an event that was attended by the President of the United States. I have been involved with over three thousand weddings and have been told that I have seen and done it all. I must reply almost, because something new always pops up.
Experience I have preformed almost every service needed at a reception from invitations, hosting and catering the event to photographing, dj and honeymoon plans with the latter being special circumstances. I have worked and hosted weddings up to 750 guest and other functions up to two thousand. With well over 30 years experiance of consulting with brides I have seen much of what works and does not.
I have also been involved with many business and orginizational functions and also have been listed in "Who's Who" business and executive edition.
Question My fiance and I are planning a Las Vegas wedding. Considering the fact, that we are not getting married here, we are planning on having a party when we return. How do I express this in wording on the invitations. Do I go ahead and put "the party will be held upon return" on the invitations, or is a seperate "party" invitation supposed to be mailed. I know I need "Save the Date cards" but I'm not quite sure on what to do about the "wedding invitations" and the "party" invitations. Should they be one invitation or seperate invitations?? I look forward to hearing your answer.
Answer Hi Casie, Generally when something like this takes place the couple really doesn't expect everyone to attend the actual wedding but would like them to attend the reception. I will tell you how to do it that way. If you expect people to attend the wedding too write back and I will go through that way.

You may have a few very close friends and family that you want to invite to the actual wedding and in this case it is appropriate to verbally invite them and send them the invitation to the reception.
You would also have a RSVP card for them to send back for their response to attending the reception.
