About Budd
Expertise
I listen to everything that I can find when it comes to Weezer, and after scouring the web several times over I think I just about have almost every single song (b-sides, albums included) that Weezer has recorded, except for a couple of hard to find demos and kitchen tapes. I can answer mostly questions about their music, but I have some knowledge of their personal lives, just not as much as my high music intellect.

Experience
I've had a lot of experience when it comes to exposing myself to Weezer music and memorabilia. I haven't been a huge fan for that long, only about six months, but in this short span I've collected a large amount of data about a group that's only done three records in seven years.

Question
hi,
I'm sorta a Weezer fan, I fell in love with the band when I first heard them about 6 years ago but I'm not quite the expert, I want to know what's up with the B sides? It really sux that those great songs aren't really out there. Did weezer not want to use them in their albums?
well anything you know about them would help, thanx(in advance).

Answer
Hey Mabel,
I'll try to answer your question to the best of my ability.  Well, there are a lot of things to keep in mind about what songs Weezer chose for their albums.  First off, I don't really know about Weezer's process about songwriting and picking songs for the albums but obviously it's a choice that they make as a collaboration with producers.  The B-sides that are on every single are one of two variety: 1)  a song written and produced while recording that certain album but didn't make the cut for the album itself (example: "I Do" from the Green Album) or 2)  a song written and produced after the album was already finished (example: "Always" on the "Island in the Sun" single was written and layed down after the Green Album was already released).  Usually when 1) is the case, they are left off the album because Weezer probably believes that it didn't really fit the mold of the album or it didn't flow too well when intertwined with the other songs (I could be wrong, their song-selection process is their own business, I'm just guessing here).  Usually when 2) is the case, they don't bother saving the songs for their next album because Rivers has such a gift with songwriting and he likes to continue flowing with whatever mood he is in, so instead of letting the song go to waste, they'd record it and release it as a B-side to some single of theirs or maybe release it on Weezer.com.

Hope I've answered your question completely, if there's anything else you'd like to ask me I'm open to any question or if you'd like there are a couple other Weezer AllExperts if you wanna try them.  Laterz.
