Experience
I while attaining both my Bachelors and Masters degrees in studio art found another passion, that of training and nutrition. A constant student, my real-world under-the-barbell and behind-the-fork approach has led to many an opportunity, experience, and change in my life as well as those I have worked. I have transformed my own body in numerous ways from an initial soft 300 plus pounds, to a 165 running enthusiast, and currently 240-260 pounds competing as a strongman and powerlifter. I am constantly picking, meeting, and reaching new goals; happy but never content, always striving to perform, learn, build, and pass on past lived experience. I have attended, competed in, and hosted various seminars, workshops, and strength events. Met, befriended, worked for, and with many of the tops in the fields of training, sports, and nutrition. I consistently and compassionately pass on my lessons learned and knowledge gained to anyone in need, or to those whom simply expresses a desire, passion to better them selves. My experience is varied, having worked both distance via the internet, and hands on. From consulting with high caliber competitors and athletes, training support on a women’s weight loss forum, to volunteering with children in high risk neighborhoods. I have helped any and all walks of life get closer to and achieve their personal goals. All the while insisting I have, and will continuee1=

Weightlifting & Exercise - Coming back after extended lazyness health concerns.

Expert: Phil Stevens - 10/11/2009

Question
I have decided to begin working out again after about 9 years of complete lack of exercise. I used to be in great shape, but I got lazy and have turned into jelly.

I constructed a 3 day a week routine and meal plan, and began it this week. During my lifting reps I do fine, but once I get to my cardio to finish things up. I get light headed and what feels like a body rush (similar to a sugar rush i suppose.)

My heart rate hovers around 120 and I have not stayed the entire 30minutes yet. Just because I do not feel right. Usually this happens about 6-7mins in and I stop at around 10mins.

Is this normal? Should I keep a lower heart rate since I'm so out of shape?

Answer
Dale?

whats your diet like? Are you eating prior to training or how long is it since you have eaten?? That and more can be a result. As well if your very over weight and havent done this type of thing in along while simply walking may be enough your very out of shape. I would start at say 5 minutes and track how far you went and then from there try and go a lil further distance in that same time or try and go 15-30 seconds longer. things like that those tiny little steps add up Buddy
