Question
I'm 17 and really interested to learn martial arts. But I haven't got enough time to join a martial arts club because of my studies and my parents won't let me either. But I just want to learn some basic martial arts, not like black belt or something!!!! Is it possible to learn some basic martial arts at home? If yes, then can you help me? Can you give me any suggestion of websites from where I can get some help? Can you help me start?

Answer
"martial arts" is the study and application of combat methods with and without weapons. while you can learn ABOUT martial arts and even practice katas with and without weapons, you will not be effectivly learning until/unless you join a system and interact with actual people. this is my honest opinion, and even some of those systems fall miserably far from effectivness, for example "king fu" in america is probably the most absurd thing you can do, but they do have some cool weapons to play with. bottom line, in my opinion, is that you pretty much HAVE to join and commit to a system in order to actually BE a martial artist. I recomend jiu jitsu or judo.
