Question Sir, I m of 20yrs and my height is 5.8, Sir does i want to join gym but i hv a confusion. that's exercies of chest & sholder can stop height growth. is it right. and how can i increase my height.
Answer Hi Krishan Bajaj,
First let's try again to put to bed this unbelievably ridiculous myth that bodybuilding, weight lifting or exercise in general has any negative effect on height. It doesn't, simple as that. Arnold "The Oak" started lifting at 12 in Austria, Shaq started lifting when he was very young also. Genetics is mostly responsible for your height. Though weight training when you are young can and does increase growth hormone, which would make you taller, not shorter.
Also if you are in your 20's and 5'8 then it is very likely that you are about as tall as you are going to get, and you aren't going to get shorter by lifting.
There are numerous web-sites that offer programs and exercises on getting taller as well as supplements. You will need to see if any of them appeal to you and try them out to see if they work. I could give you some links, but you can get them just as easy from google, by doing a search for "height increasing exercises"
I am 56 Years old and am 5'8.5. I don't worry about height, I play basketball, ride bicycles, lift weights, play softball and I have never felt short.
As far as exercises take a look at www.bmgfitness.com and click on the box that says Free Workout. or go to www.bmgfitness.com/workout and download that workout.
Join the gym, get a trainer if possible and get fit and healthy, you can do it if you are willing to put in the work and stop believing the Old Wives Tales.
