Question hey ive been training myself for boxing for a few months now but before i compete i want to get my arms and chest a little bigger...first off when i bench press its like i only feel it in my arms i dont feel any tightness in my chest muscles it doesnt even feel like my chest was worked at all so what am i doing wrong?..also what do you suggest as to getting my arms and chest bigger without sacrificing definition...i know guys that have huge arms but they have no tone it just looks like fat arms
Answer Hi J.J.
Using a closer grip on the bench press will increase the use of the tricep muscles and therefore build more strength in your arms as well as more definition. Using a wider grip will increase the chest involvement, it may be that you are not feeling it in the chest because of the grip you are using, it may not be wide enough.
