Question
I have Lateral Patellar Compression Syndrome. What are some things I can do to strengthen my knees. I am overweight and am trying to lose weight with regular exercise but the more I workout the more my knee hurts. Thanks so much

Answer
Hi Ashley,

A good diet and a drop in weight is of course the most important thing to do at this point. Glucosamine and Chondrotin supplement such as Osteo Bi Flex is also a big help. Fish Oil is also a great help as it helps to build the synovial fluid in the joint. Exercise that is not weight bearing is the best. Cycling works great for the knees, either indoor or outdoor.

Also check out www.bmgfitness.com and look ate the free exercise library there for knee exercises.

Here is a website that has specific exercises for women http://www.buzzle.com/editorials/6-2-2006-98140.asp

Here is another that should help

Hope this helps

Have a great day
