Question hi im just wondering on how to improve my stamina. heres a little about me: 18 years old and i have asthma, and i can only do exercising for only about 5-10 minutes without gasping for air.
Answer Ho Kevin,
The easiest way to improve stamina is to try to do a little more each time you exercise. If you can now do 5 minutes, try to do 6 minutes next time and maybe 7 minutes the time after that. Increase slowly bit shoot for a goal like 30 minutes of uninterrupted cardio. Pick something you think you will enjoy. Cycling, running even walking are great exercises to get you going, main thing is to get your body moving.
Build slowly, but push yourself to do a slight bit more each workout, not a lot more, just a little. You will be surprised at how fast you start making improvement.
You may want to start with resistance exercises lifting low weights, is done with excellent form.
Good health also depends on good nutrition and good nutrition is very likely to help your asthma. Improve your nutrition plan as much as you can. Eat healthy veggies, lean meats, and fish and increasing them in the same manner. Maybe an increase of no more than 3-5 lbs at a time, making sure that everything as well as healthy fats, like olive oil and peanuts. Water is excellent for asthma, in fact in a study done in England many years ago, people that were starting to have an asthmatic episode were given 2-12 oz glasses of water to drink, and those that followed the direction had a tremendous rate of relief within 30 minutes. At one time I had the data on that study, not sure where it is now, but I think it was published in the British Journal of Medicine back around the mid 80's.
