Question
So I'm on a goal to get a six pack this summer, Will biking help me become skinnier so the six pack is visible?
About how many miles do you think I would have to bike to loose a pound? As in to loose the 3,500 calories i may have eaten? (Im eating less than about 1,500 calories a day for this diet FYI)
Thanks Alex

Answer
Hi Alex,

Be careful with such a low calorie diet as it could throw the body into starvation mode which will cause the body to store fat even more. You must get sufficient calories to cover your BMR.

Biking will indeed help you lose fat, and the amount of calories burned will depend on whether you are going up hills, the intensity with which you are riding and much more. Each pound of fat is 3500 stored calories. That means you need to burn 3500 calories more than you take in. If you do that over a 1 week period you will lose about 1 pound a week, if you burn an extra 7000 or 1000 a day then you should lose about 2 pounds a week.

Here is a site that has some estimates of calories burned.

Hope this helps

Have a great day
