Weightlifting & Exercise - Sleeping after some exercise

Expert: Richard Edmondson - 9/22/2009

Question
Hi Rich,
I am a beginner in the home gym.I work in 5p.m to 2.00 am shift and reach home back in the night at 2.30.I just started doing some exercises at home like first warming up the body by running for 10 min and then doing exercise for my arms by using dumbbells (5KG each (2 sets of 16))and some push ups.As I am just a beginner to the exercise. After ( after 10 mins gap)doing all this I just go to bed and sleep whole night till 10a.m in the morning.

So my question is that --Can sleeping after these exercise be harmful to me?

Please help me..I will wait for your response and would be highly thankful to you  if you can send me your reply to my mail ID.Thanks

Jimmy.

Answer
Hi Jimmy, if you exercise late it stimulates your nervous system which means u would have a dodgy nights sleep at best.

But it isn't harmful too you for working out late, providing you arent shifting heavy weights etc and by the routine you sent me it wont harm u.

The only thing i would say is exercising reallly late might affect how you sleep after, in which case you would be shattered the next day, but if u sleep well like that then great!

Hope that helps

Richard
