Weightlifting & Exercise - Weight lifting routine

Expert: Brian - 7/26/2006

Question
Age 42, Male, lifting for several months.

I currently have this routine

Mon-Off, Tues Chest/Bicep, Weds Legs/Shoulders,
Thur Back Tricep, Fri Chest/Bicep,
Sat Legs/Shoulders, Sun Back/Tricep.

For each body part I do four exercises, each on has about 4-5 sets, each set 5-12 reps.

I includes some ab and cardio a few times a week. I was wondering if I am overtraining.

Answer
You might want to re-work this a little so you don't have biceps & back on consecutive days; and the same for triceps and chest. One way to do that would be to work biceps & back on the same day, triceps and chest on the same day.

I see you're trying to separate these on purpose. But it's really worse to work them consecutive days. Maybe an idea, since you are doing each muscle group twice per week, would be to on the first round do chest then tri's, and on the second round, do tri's then chest?
