Subject: Bench grinder safety

Question
What safety gear should I wear when using a bench grinder?
Also, do all welders require a special electrical connection or are some fitted with UK standard domestic 13A, 230V plugs?
Thanks for your time.

Answer
Safety glasses are a minimum when using any grinder.
If you are doing a lot of grinding then safety glasses and a face shield.
And of course hearing protection.

If you are grinding for long periods I recommend at least a dust mask.

As to AC plugs on welding machines...I haven't a clue what is standard in the UK.
I live in Seattle USA.
I was last in England in 1975, and at 9 years old I wasn't asking about welding power plugs.
I did get to lie down on the heel stone at Stonehenge, but that has nothing to do with welding.
