Welding/stellite

Question
How should i use stellite with mig? I hard faced some 4130 and the stellite cracked away from the base metal

Answer
I have never seen Stellite applied with MIG.

I would just call the company and ask one of there in-house engineers.
They are very helpful.

I have seen spools of it used with a "Cold Wire TIG", and I personally have TIG and Gas welded it.
I would suspect it wants some preheat on the steel.
Heat it with a big torch to above 600 degF before trying to clad it.
