Question
When do baby robins learn to fly?

Answer
Hi,

It will take between 2 and 3 weeks (roughly) for baby robins to hatch, grow in their feathers and gain enough size and weight, and learn to fly.  They should be completely independent of the parents at between 4 and 5 weeks of age.

Expertise

I am able to answer questions regarding wild animals native to North America (and occasionally other wild mammals), especially those native to Michigan. My knowledge base is best with mammals (including opossums, skunks, raccoons, squirrels, etc.), but I can also handle many bird, reptile, and amphibian questions.

Experience

I have been a wildlife rehabber for 10 years in Michigan. I started a small (home-based) wildlife rehab center 10 years ago - West Michigan Wildlife Rescue.

Organizations
Formerly: International Wildlife Rehabilitation Council; National Wildlife Rehabilitation Association.

Currently: National Wildlife Federation

Education/Credentials
I am self-taught in many areas of wildlife behavior, classification, etc., and I have completed 4 out of 7 semesters in the vet tech program at Michigan State University.
