I have a very large family room window that measures 118 1/2 inches wide by 70 1/2 inches tall that needs window coverings for privacy and to filter the sun. There are two screens/window sliders on either side of this massive window to slide open horizontally which are each 28 1/2 inches. My question is in measuring for and installing bamboo/natural reed pull-up shades, should I measure and purchase them in three equal panels for symmetry or so the two side panels are 28 1/2 inches like the window...leaving a larger shade panel in the middle? Is there any design no-no's that would indicate which way to do it? There are no breaks in the window with molding or anything. It's one large window. Thanks.
Answer Hi Shayla
I've used blinds on this style of window several times in the past 3 months! There are two ways you can go. One is to do two smaller blinds and one larger blind in the middle. This has more flexibility in terms of light control. The other way is to use one very large blind for a streamlined, more contemporary look. Either way, I recommend using a clutch operation for ease & durability.
I definitely would not recommend three equal-sized shades. If you have trouble finding some natural woven shades in your area let me know--I carry the B&W, Kirsch & Graber products. Also if you're not sure how something would look, I can "draw" it into your picture.
