Windows 7/windows search on network-share folders

Question
Hi,
when I attempt to use the search window in windows explorer, it starts searching the second I start typing, and I can't get the actual search I want into the box before being interrupted with the search of what little I had already typed.  This is especially aggravating when searching a network share, because it seems to freeze for a few seconds each time it starts to search, which happens each time I type a letter or two.  This behavior makes windows search completely useless to me for no good reason.  Is there a  way to make it search only after I'm finished typing?

Answer
Hello Robert

This is completely normal because it is simply attempting to speed up the process of searching since you may not have to completely type what it is you are looking for. As well, if you find when you start typing and say for example, you want to search for "three blind mice"  but as you type "three blind" it has already completed 'three blind mice went up the wall" then simply backspace to the point where you want the search .. "three blind mice"  and then hit enter/return

I suggest visiting the following microsoft  help link to see if you can't learn some of the advanced search functions:

Hope this helps

Sincerely

Windows 7

Expertise

As I have been volunteering in the 'windows' category since the inception of AllExperts, which has now moved to numerous windows categories. I will therefore be happy to answer any Windows 7,8 and 10 based question. What can't I answer? Not much, as this is the main reason I volunteered here, because I am hopeful the questions I can not answer will allow me to investigate the problem so that I can answer it. The TIPS and SOFTWARE support through my website at http://tpsconsulting.com can also be of some help.

Experience

I have owned my own computer consulting business for the past 17 years and since the very beginning I have volunteered with AllExperts in the hopes I would be able to learn from others mistakes and problems. The goal for me is to be able to research any problem I don't initially have the answer to, in the hopes I will be able to further benefit for my own clients when they come across a similar problem.
