Answer
Hello Nina

This is typically due to programs running on start up, that really shouldn't be there, as well as programs that have been updated but the old version still remains. A program like crapcleaner (ccleaner) can do a very good job of cleaning and removing programs and registry entries, as well as allowing you easy access to the start up portion of windows to disable and/or remove specific entries. Another program "malwarebytes" is probably your best bet for anti-malware scanning. Since there are many programs out there, a lot of these may seem to be working but are presenting you with 'false positives' in order for you to purchase the full version. Note Ccleaner and Malwarebytes are free, but they too do have a pro version, which you DO NOT need to purchase.

Visit my website at http://tpsconsulting.com and read the TIPS page on OPTIMIZING your computer. Then go to the SOFTWARE/SUPPORT page and install all the items from the PINK section as they will help with the cleaning, removal and ongoing maintenance from the malware/spyware issues that cause so many problems and slow downs.

You can learn more on how to use all of the CCLEANER features from this link:

I hope this helps

Sincerely

Expertise

As I have been volunteering in the 'windows' category since the inception of AllExperts, which has now moved to numerous windows categories. I will therefore be happy to answer any Windows 7,8 and 10 based question. What can't I answer? Not much, as this is the main reason I volunteered here, because I am hopeful the questions I can not answer will allow me to investigate the problem so that I can answer it. The TIPS and SOFTWARE support through my website at http://tpsconsulting.com can also be of some help.

Experience

I have owned my own computer consulting business for the past 17 years and since the very beginning I have volunteered with AllExperts in the hopes I would be able to learn from others mistakes and problems. The goal for me is to be able to research any problem I don't initially have the answer to, in the hopes I will be able to further benefit for my own clients when they come across a similar problem.
