Question QUESTION: Hello Saad:
I have Microsoft Windows version 2000 and Windows XP. My problem is that I cannot delete a line of asterisks ******
If I try, the cursor skips to the next line. I can delete the asterisks anywhere in the program except in one place. Do you have any idea what might be wrong?
Thanks.
Carol

QUESTION: Thanks,
I am using Microsoft Word version 2000, I erred when I said Microsoft Windows 2000.The system is XP
Also, the only time there is a problem with asterisks is when there is no end of line marker, i.e., if I place my cursor over it (at the top of the window where there are many symbols), a sign appears which says "show/hide". Can't copy and paste to show you. I can copy but when I paste it seems to be invisible. This mark is usually at the end of every line but is normally invisible. For some reason, a few of the lines with lots af asterisks do not end with this mark. So I think what is happening is that the computer thinks the line after the line of asterisks is a continuation of the line with asssterisks.
Cant imagine what evil thing I did to bring abour this problem.
Thank again
Answer Hello Carol,
correct me if i understood what are you talking about wrongly
you get *** every time you enter a new line and stuff that is annoying feature in win word.
anyways
go to the format menu and the use borders and shading. You should now see another mini screen with the dotted lines which you can click on to remove.
this feature is enabled and it is by default.
Here is how to disable this feature:
On the Insert Menu, click AutoText, AutoText then the AutoFormat As You Type Tab.
Uncheck the box labeled Border Lines under Apply as you type, click OK.
i hope that helps
