Expert: Kevin Date: 7/5/2008 Subject: Samsung HM120JC hanging on boot up and when plugged
Question I have a Samsung HM120JC outer HDD, it has 120GB, so it has no need seperate electric port, like hdd over 250GB need. It went normally for few months, great speed and everything. But know when i plug it in USB it tells me "this USB can go faster with USB 2.0" - thats normal, but then it just hangs. If i try to access it through Explorer, it hangs the explorer too. I know it's not a virus, because i tried to scan it with "USB Virus Scan". Another thing, it has this freaky formatting called RAW. Maybe that's the problem and i read on other forums, that people have problems like me on the same exact outer HDD. No one of them has the answer to help me.
Answer Hi Reinis, did you plug this hard drive into any other computer? Can you try using it on another computer to see what happens.
It sounds like the hard drive needs to be formatted. It won't be able to read RAW format.
Does it make any weird sounds when you power it on?
